Chinese Online Typing Pad
Howto
- Click anywhere within the right text box to start typing.
- Type the words in Hanyu Pinyin:
- follow on checking the top left text line;
- look for a necessary character within the left text box;
- press a numeric key for instant insertion;
- if the desired character appears on the 1st position, simply press "space".
- Always press "space" after each character input.
- Use the equivalent latin keys for Chinese punctuation:
- each punctuation symbol occupies one character area;
- for list separation with a special comma, type "\" key (backslash).
- Switch to latin layout by ticking the checkbox below or use "Shift + key" combination.
- Use "Ctrl+C" and "Ctrl+V" to copy and paste the text, or refer to the corresponding contextual menu items.
- Examples:
- type "xiansheng (space)" to get 先生;
- type "mei (5) nv (space)" to get 美女.
Chinese Typing Pad - online input tool and a simple way to write in Chinese using a typical latin keyboard. The ability to type chinese characters (hanzi) is brought by the Hanyu Pinyin romanization system. The online Typing Pad does not depend on your computer capabilities with regards to chinese encoding and thus works on Mac. Usage of the copy/paste functional allows to easily save written text into a file, edit it anytime from anywhere and also, to send it via e-mail. This tool is quite useful for those foreign students learning Chinese online. However, Pinyin is purely a representation of the sounds of Mandarin, thereby it lacks the semantic cues Chinese characters can provide. It is also unsuitable for transcribing some Chinese-spoken languages other than Mandarin.
